Hi! I’m Mrs. Sklar and this is my classroom website

Hello!  My name is Sarah Sklar, and this will be my first year teaching at Carden Conejo.  Previous to Carden, I have had a wide range of experiences that I bring with me to the classroom.  I had an over-25 year career as an advertising sales and marketing manager and I am also a mom to boy/girl twins that are 11 and a 13 year old son. 
           I grew up in the Northern California Bay Area where I went to Berkeley public schools.  After high school, I went to the University of California, Los Angeles and then on to University of California, Berkeley to earn my Bachelors degree in Psychology.  For graduate work, I am currently attending Humphreys University where I am completing my Masters degree in Education and my multiple subjects teaching credential.  
          Even at a young age, I knew that I loved working with and being around young children.  I started babysitting on my own at age 13 and had a regular list of client families and then I was a nanny my last two years of college.  These experiences afforded me the confidence, comfort, and joy in working and communicating with children. That, along with the fond, warm fuzzy feelings I still carry with me regarding my previous teachers is what has led me to go into teaching as a second career - I clearly realize what an important, formative, positive impact a teacher has on children.  I could not be

happier to begin this exciting journey with you all and thank you families for allowing me to be an integral part of your children's lives!
